2022 – PRESENT – WEST DEAN COLLEGE/KLC SCHOOL OF DESIGN

HEAD OF SCHOOL OF DESIGN

Responsible for the leadership and management of the School of Design, in London. This is one of three schools within West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, located in Chichester. As a member of College Management Team, I work with other Heads of School and Department Heads to ensure the academic, financial and operational aspects of the College. In addition, I am responsible for the quality assurance of all validated and non-validated programmes, as well as the commercial developments within the School, management of staff and developing research and scholarship across the College.

As a member of the Corporation Board, I am responsible for ensuring delivery of the corporations statutory responsibilities including periodic review of the educational character and mission of the institution, quality strategy, effective and efficient use of resources, approving annual estimates of income and expenditure, staffing (appointments, grading and pay), In addition, as a member of the Curriculum and Quality Committee, I am responsible for monitoring the achievement of strategic objectives in relation to teaching and learning, student engagement, enrolment, retention and attendance, progression, growth strategies and targets.

SUBJECT LEAD FOR CONSTRUCTION, ART & DESIGN, AND CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCTION

Responsible for the development and support of Higher Nationals qualifications in specific sectors. Managing a team of writers through the qualification development process and supporting colleges to implement and quality assure their programmes. Working with global sales teams to promote qualifications. Developing and delivery of training programmes to support universities and FE colleges delivering Higher Nationals.

Providing annual reporting on external examining results; to advise programme and university on areas of good practice and areas for improvement.

2005 – 2008 – CENTRE FOR LEARNING & TEACHING IN ART & DESIGN (CLTAD)

TUTOR/COURSE LEADER

Initially working as a tutor, and later as Course Leader on the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching programme. In this role, I was responsible for the development, staffing, delivery, assessment and quality assurance of the ‘residential’ programme. This was a PgCertHE programme offered for staff at UAL as well as Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art, University of Norfolk and the Royal College of Art. In addition, I was among a team that developed and delivered a bespoke programme for staff at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado School of Art and Design (Sao Paolo, Brazil).

Academic leadership and management of undergraduate architecture programme, and development of postgraduate programme. Led a team of full-time and hourly-paid staff in the development and delivery of professionally recognised architecture course. Member of college senior management team and member of various cross-university committees.
