 Edited by Noam Austerlitz, this collection of essays considers the role of emotion and subjectivity in learning and teaching in art and design.

Published by the Centre for Learning and Teaching in Art and Design (2009), I was asked to provide a commentary on the essay “Playground, Studios and Hiding Places: Emotional Exchange in Creative Learning Spaces” (by Olivia Sagan) and her analysis of the studio environment and teaching in relation to Winnicot’s theory of the ‘good enough mother.’
